Making colorful frames with newspaper

Hello everyone,

Today in this blog I wanted to share how a newspaper can turn into a colorful frame? The reason behind these crafts is a little funny, we will get photo prints every month but I don't have frames to hang them in so I decided to make my own frames. The simple things that you find around the house are very helpful to make these frames.

You can think if I go to the dollar store I will get frames why make these paper frames? the reason for suggesting these frames is to spend time for yourself and you can also get help from your kids or friends to spend time together. It's not only for time spending you can make frames and you can change it according to your mood and also you can make it for occasions to make it special. It will be cool if the frames made by you and someone asks "wow where did you got this frame? or have you done this?" it will make you feel motivated in several ways. So let's get started to make these frames.


Things needed for frames,

It's a newspaper craft so obviously, newspapers, an A4 sheet or any white paper, cardboard, glue gel, refill or thin stick, and scissors. To make it colorful use acrylic colors and brushes.

Newspaper rolls,

The first thing we need to make is newspaper rolls or straws for this take newspaper, refill scissors, and glue stick like this in image 1. After taking all these things cut the newspaper into a square shape and place the needle in one corner of the newspaper like this in image 2. Start to roll the newspaper diagonally like this in image 3. Make as many as straws you can and keep them aside.

apply glue at the edge of the newspaper.

Small straws for small frames,

For small frames, you can make the small newspaper rolls for this cute newspaper into desired sizes and keep refill glue and scissors ready like this in image 5. After that keep the refill in the one end of the newspaper like this in image 6 and start to roll it horizontally like this image 7.  At the end of the newspaper apply the glue stick to make the straws like this in image 9.

9.Make as many as straws you can.

Making frames,

After making the newspaper straws, let's start with the cardboard. Apply the glue gel on the cardboard like this in image 10. Then spread the gel and paste the paper on the cardboard like this in image 11.

After pasting the white paper on the cardboard, cut the edges of the newspaper roll to paste it on the cardboard like this in image 12. Apply the glue gel on the cardboard where we will paste the newspaper roll like this image 13.

12. Cut the edges of the paper straw to
fix it on the cardboard.

Slowly fix and hold the newspaper for few seconds for better sticking and do it for the rest of the sides on the cardboard like this in images 14 and 15

For big frames use long newspaper rolls and for small frames use small newspaper rolls. Make as many frames at a time and wait till the glue dry check image 16 for the frame idea.

16.Similarly make as many frames as you like.

Coloring the frames,

Now to color the frame place the newspaper at the center of the frame and start to paint the frames like this in image 17. You can use whatever color you like. Black will give classy look to your frames and other colors give vibrant look to the frames.

It's a fun thing to make our own frames you can also use a particular color the gives contrasting look to the photos.

You can make paper flowers and stick them over the corners of the frames. So making frames is a wonderful activity even kids will love to make if we give little guidance.

Make frames and decorate your rooms as you wish. Colors will fill the day of your and mine too. This is how I got my photo frames.

Acrylic painting with plates

What you can do with one use plates? I like to use paper plates for painting which is fun thing to do. I always wanted to give a try. For that I came up with an idea of trying cherry blossom and blue sky. I hope  everyone likes Spring and cherry blossoms beautiful scenery.  Here I tried it with Acrylic painting on simple one use white plate and used vibrant Colors.  For this I used Real blue, Blue cotton and White color Acrylic  paints as a background colors.
