ZENTANGLE ART

Zentangle art,

The first thing what is a Zentangle?

A free drawing that made up of shapes filled with patterns like line, dots, curves, and circles is called a Zentangle. This was invented in the USA by Monk Rick Roberts and artist Maria Thomas in the early 2000s. At first, this was Zentange was made on a small paper tile 9 x 9cm large, those patterns that are used are called "tangles". As you all know art is a kind of meditation, following that Zentangle drawing is also one of kind like mandala drawing. Both mandala and Zentangle art are different but patterns on both will look alike in some way.

Where can you see this Zentangle? These Zentangles are actually seen in tiles that are fixed in the home interiors. Nowadays these Zentangle patterns are a recreating art that is practiced in presenting so many ideas.

Basic patterns of Zentangle art

How I started Zentangle?

I started drawing as a hobby and I wanted to try different kinds of drawing that I can try. So I will always try drawings that are easy and simple to try, from that line I came across Zentangle art it looked simple but it also needs hard work. First time I tried it in pencil by drawing a simple feather. I will try simple patterns of my imagination.

Landscape Zentangle Art,

The landscape Zentangle is a drawing that used patterns to fill the landscape. The first time I tried but it flops and I stopped trying then Again tried it with sketches so that even if I made any mistakes it won't be visible. I tried a simple sunset drawing with lots of colors.

Isn't it look colorful? After that, I was using coloring apps for adults and I like to do coloring that was fun to do, I will do that when I am bored. During the pandemic time, it was really some kind of stress buster for me. While I was using that app I came across one Zentangle art that looked very adorable and it admired me to try that.

Based on those two coloring book pages turned my imagination into another wonderful art for my wall, so here we go,

Sailing boat Zentangle art

For this drawing, I used my sketches, crayons, and colored pencils. There are so many things around Us we can try to do Zentangle. Here is another landscape Zentangle art drawing,

Landscape Zentangle art

In this landscape drawing, I used very simple patterns using a Micron pen that's why I call it Micron magic. I tried a peacock Zentangle drawing with a Micron pen are you excited to see how it came, tada

Peacock Zentangle art

In this I wanted it to be colorful, I did Peacock with the Micron pen and the outside the Peacock outline I used sketches to draw the patterns. So what do you think do you want to try one like I did? Yes, you too can try once I choose one simple Zentangle pattern for you to try, shall we start?

Simple Zentangle art,

Here I took simple Zentangle patterns in Umbrella, I hope everyone will like umbrella helpful thing during summer and winter or whenever rain meets you Umbrella will always keep you safe in any situation. Here we go,

Umbrella Zentangle art.

The first thing all we have to do is to draw an umbrella, it's easy to draw. for this first draw one circle with any source of measurement in the center of the paper, then divide the circle into four halves, from the center draw the humps for the umbrella, see how it looks,

1. Pencil outline

2. Micron pen outline
3. Deciding the layers for patterns.
Once you are done with the pencil outline, then go for Micron pen outline and then decide what kind of layers you want to make patterns. So I have decided to do patterns on the layers in image 3. Now I will start drawing patterns from the down layer to the top layer of the umbrella, So shall we start here I go,

4.
5. Alternate patterns.

Here you can notice the pattern was looking like a chessboard, isn't it? Yes it was like that only but very small, if you want to fill the entire layer you can draw for the entire layer, I like to see it the alternative way so I did like this 5, for one layer and filled the second layer also in an interlaced pattern like this(look image 6.)

6. Alternate patterns and interlaced
patterns on two layers.

It is cool right you can repeat patterns, now what shall we fill in the middle I thought to put the rose pattern on the first layer so you can get visible patterns to try so I did the rose pattern like this(look at image 7 and 8),

7.
8.

I not going to repeat this for the second layer I am going to draw simple stripes like this(look at images 9 and 10).
9.
10.

As the patterns are clear and easy for you to try or else you can try any patterns of your imagination. Now for the third layer,

11.
12.

13.Third layer completed.
Here also I did check lines on the third layer like I said if you are a beginner start with stripes, lines, and dots so it will make it easy to do this drawing. Then move on to the next layer and so on so continue to draw the next layer like image 14 and 15,

14.
15.

After completing the fourth layer I wanted to draw the 5th layer but I wanted a dark pattern on the top so I did the top layer first and then came to the 5th layer and I did like this(look at the image16).

16. Completed Umbrella Zentangle art.
Now it is looking plain so I came up with an interesting thought of drawing a rainbow with colors so I tried to draw that on the bottom of the paper. If you don't like means you can draw any other thing that you like or else you can leave it as it is. So here I did like this(look at the image 17,18).

17. Pencil sketch for rainbows
18. Coloring done for Rainbows.

Now time for my final touch, I wanted to highlight the layers so I shaded the lines with a black color pencil. So my final image came like this(look at image 19).

Finally, we are done with the Umbrella Zentangle art drawing. Initially, it will be challenging but once you started to know how to use patterns then it will be more fun to do Zentangle art drawing.

Try this simple Zentangle and share your experience and give your feedback for me which I love to read.

Thank you will meet in the next post.
